The Journal of Contemporary Islamic Research (JCIR) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that is the destination for the latest in cutting edge research in contemporary Islam. The Journal aims to present the works of scholars around the world working on relevant issues, in the form of original research studies, scientific models and book reviews.

What is the journal’s review process?

JCIR is a peer-reviewed journal. It uses a double-blind peer review process. Submissions are sent to two reviewers whose recommendations will be used to decide if a paper is accepted as is, requires changes before being accepted, needs to be re-submitted due to requiring extensive changes, or if it is rejected by the journal.

Is the journal an open-access journal?

Yes, JCIR is an open access journal that aims to have the maximum readership possible.

How often are issues of the journal published?

JCIR is published once a month.

Is this journal published both in print and online versions?

JCIR is an electronic journal and no print copies are published.

What types of papers are eligible for submission for this journal?

JCIR publishes original and review papers, scientific models, empirical research and book reviews.

Is there a fee for publication?

Yes, if a submission is accepted for publication, author(s) are required to pay a fee. The fee for single author papers is USD 200, and the fee for multiple author papers is USD 125 per author. This fee is compulsory for publication, but we do consider requests for waiving the fee in exceptional circumstances. Are there any specific guidelines that authors should follow?

All authors must carefully follow AUTHORS GUIDELINES and ensure that their manuscript adheres to these guidelines exactly.

How long is the journal’s review process?

The review process takes a maximum of two weeks.

Can an author submit more than one paper for the same issue?

Yes, the same author can submit more than one paper at a time.

Does the journal gain copyrights to any material published in JCIR?

No. Authors retain the copyrights for all articles published in the Journal of Contemporary Islamic Research. The Journal, however, is granted first rights to publish the material.
